| Position description |
Direct, manage, and coordinate all research
programs for WildMetro.
Specific responsibilities include collecting and analyzing data,
designing research protocols, securing grants, writing and editing
reports, obtaining permits, coordinating work schedules for field
workers and volunteers (as many as 2 full-time workers and 20 part-time
volunteers), and occasionally assisting with education and advocacy
programs. The Research Coordinator works very closely with the Associate
Research Coordinator on all research related materials. One of the
primary duties will be to develop new research projects (independently
and in conjunction with other organizations in the NYC area) and
to conduct an on-going project focusing on small mammal communities
in the NY Metropolitan region. The position has a large amount of
flexibility in developing new research projects.

| Position requirements |
A graduate
degree in Ecology, Biology, or a related field.
Must be able to work well independently and with people of a variety
of different backgrounds, be able to learn and teach a variety of
research and field techniques, and work very closely on all matters
with the Associate Research Coordinator.
Be comfortable communicating research findings and protocol to scientific
and non-scientific audiences.
Willingness to work long and odd hours for stretches of time.
Prior field research experience. |
